General Meeting and Ratification of the work program 2025
On December 10, 2024, the Integrated Steering Committee and the Second General Meeting of the Working Groups and Task Forces for the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership took place in Amman, Jordan. The event brought together key representatives from both countries, including government officials, energy sector experts, as well as representatives from academia and business associations to discuss the outcomes of 2024’s collaborative work under the Work Programme of the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership and to ratify the Work Program for 2025.
The meeting was opened by Dr. Irina Höhna from the German Energy Agency, followed by opening remarks from Eng. Amani Al-Azzam, General Secretary of Jordan's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), and Dr. Bertram von Moltke, the German Ambassador to Jordan. The co-chairs, Nidal Al Qasem from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) and Anne Jacobs-Schleithoff from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), welcomed attendees and outlined the event’s objectives.
The meeting featured crucial insights into the energy transitions of both countries. Eng. Bushra Al Abbadi from the MEMR and Andreas Rissmann from BMWK delivered thought-provoking speeches on Jordan’s and Germany’s energy transition efforts, highlighting key strategies for the future. The subsequent sessions focused on reviewing the achievements of 2024 and presenting the work plans for 2025, involving all working groups and task forces, including those dedicated to energy efficiency, power grid development, and digitalisation; innovation in the energy sector, and gender equality in the energy sector. Special attention was given to strategic topics in the field of energy data and green hydrogen production.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of the 2025 Work Program by co-chairs Nidal Al Qasem and Anne Jacobs-Schleithoff, formalizing the continued cooperation. Recognizing the active participation and dedication of experts engaged in the joint work, certificates of appreciation were awarded to those who made significant contributions throughout the year. We thank all participants for their time and valuable contributions, and insightful inputs, and look forward to next years´ fruitful collaboration between Jordan and Germany.
